Tips on Taking Pictures of Landscapes
If you are visiting another country, one of the things that you should do is to take photos of beautiful landscapes and sceneries. Here are a few tips on how to take exceptional photos that you can later print on canvas and display in your home once you arrive back in your own home.
First, do some background research on the site you are planning to visit. By studying existing photos and materials, you will be able to determine which areas are good places to take spectacular scenic shots. In addition, before you visit the place, you may want to check out the weather conditions in the area. Most likely, you would like to photograph the scene on a clear sunny day. However, do not let weather conditions limit you; many award-winning scenery photos are taken in overcast, foggy, rainy, or even stormy weather!
When you arrive at the site and establish your position, compose your picture. Basically, you should have something in the foreground, mid-ground, and background. Make sure to check the corners of the viewfinder for distractions.
Next, mount your camera on a tripod. You may be using a small aperture or slow shutter speed to capture the “mood” of the scenery, so if your camera shakes in your hand, the image will come out blurry. A tripod frees you from holding your unit, which eliminates the possibility of vibration, resulting in a clearer picture. Finally, use a cable or wireless release to take the photograph since this will allow you to trigger the shutter at the right moment.
